Job Title: Male Domestic Violence Advocate

Location: London - Hybrid working

Contract Type: Full-time, 1 year FTC

Salary: 28.3k to 30.3k per annum

About Us:

Our client is a dedicated national organisation committed to providing crucial support and services to individuals affected by domestic abuse. We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Male Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join their dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

As a Male IDVA, you will play a crucial role in:

  • Implementing effective strategies to work with male victims and their supporters, with a focus on enhancing safety and minimising harm.

  • Providing a premium, front-line service to male victims of domestic abuse, prioritising support based on risk assessment and primarily targeting victim/survivors aged 16 and above.

  • Initiating, developing, maintaining, and monitoring multi-agency links through established procedures and protocols to prioritise safety in all services for victims of domestic abuse.

  • Specialising as a leading practitioner for male victims of domestic abuse, offering advice, guidance, and serving as a single point of contact for male victims.

  • Managing a caseload, conducting risk assessments, and tailoring services to meet the individual needs of each client.

  • Providing proactive, short to medium-term crisis intervention services, including safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support, with a focus on high-risk cases.

  • Assisting high-risk victims in accessing relevant services to ensure the safety of themselves and their children.

  • Understanding the legal framework related to child and vulnerable adult protection, including adherence to Local Safeguarding Children's Board policies and procedures.

  • Offering advocacy, emotional and practical support, and information to victims, including exploring legal and civil options, housing, health, and finance.

  • Supporting clients through the criminal justice system and participating in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) framework.

  • Maintaining accurate and confidential case management records, contributing to service monitoring, and producing required statistics.

  • Ensuring compliance with data protection legislation, confidentiality, information-sharing policies, and relevant legislation connected to the role.

  • Staying up-to-date with and adhering to organisational procedures, policies, and professional codes of conduct to uphold standards of best practice.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant professional qualifications and experience in working with victims of domestic abuse.
  • In-depth understanding of the legal framework and procedures related to domestic abuse, child protection, and vulnerable adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency framework.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards.
  • Understanding and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
