Data Systems Manager

Permanent Opportunity

£40K - £48K

Our leading university client are seeking a Data Systems Manager to oversee a major research information system. You will ensure system data quality, interoperability, and provide support across the institution.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing all aspects of a complex research information system, including modules, upgrades, testing, data integrity, and interoperability with other university systems
  • Reviewing, maintaining and updating system metadata, data dictionaries, and organisational unit listings
  • Providing expert support for system users, communicating functionality, and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Creating and updating system user guides, documentation, and training materials
  • Liaising with IT services regarding system access, policies, cybersecurity, and other integrations
  • Producing reports and briefings on system efficiency and operations for university leadership

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree with computing systems experience
  • Prior experience managing an enterprise-wide system in higher education or similar
  • Excellent understanding of research administration and knowledge management
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills
  • Educated to undergraduate level in a computing or systems management related field
  • Experience with research administration, knowledge exchange programmes, civic engagement initiatives, or teaching programmes within higher education
  • Previous experience managing an institution-wide core system in a comparable environment
  • In-depth understanding of the UK research and knowledge exchange landscape across universities
  • Knowledge of critical research assessment frameworks such as REF and KEF
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders including system users, IT staff, and university leadership
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to produce reports and briefings
  • Skills in developing and delivering workshops and presentations to varied audiences
