External Affairs Officer

Morgan Hunt is currently working with a Health Professions Membership Body in their search for a permanent External Affairs Officer to advance their advocacy and policy objectives.

As the External Affairs Officer you will be responsible for designing and executing their external affairs strategy. This includes monitoring activities of key stakeholders, maintain and update data, and brief senior staff. You will also be working closely with the Communications and Policy teams to help support on Party Conferences and deliver public campaigns.

The External Affairs Officer will have strong stakeholder engagement skills, be a self-starter that is able to work independently to a high standard and have strong communication skills.

Location: Farringdon, London (Hybrid)

Salary: £35,000

Contract: Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement external affairs strategy.
• Identify and leverage opportunities to advance policy goals.
• Monitor and evaluate government actions and propose relevant public affairs strategies.
• Manage a political monitoring service for timely policy intelligence.
• Conduct high-quality stakeholder engagement, maintaining data and briefing senior staff.
• Enhance the organisations parliamentary profile through targeted briefings and events.
• Lead the organisations activities at Party Conferences and other policy events.
• Build and maintain a network of contacts in Westminster and the health policy sector.
• Develop public campaigns and support integrated communication plans.
• Assist with policy-led events and report launches.
• Stay updated with relevant developments and pursue professional development.
• Incorporate digital communications into work.
• Adhere to organisational policies and collaborate with staff.
• Contribute to team meetings and organisational goals.
• Be flexible and undertake other duties as needed, including occasional travel and evening/weekend work.

Experience:

• Proven experience in public affairs and policy influencing.
• Experience in integrated communications planning.
• Strong stakeholder relationship management.
• Excellent understanding of the UK political system and health-care policy.
• Strong communication and persuasion skills.
• Proficient in IT and political monitoring platforms.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
