Hostel Worker

Location: London

Salary: £12.50 - £15.00 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hostel Worker to join our team in London. As a Hostel Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing support to vulnerable individuals facing homelessness, substance misuse, and mental health challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Support: Offer empathetic and non-judgemental support to individuals facing homelessness, substance misuse, and mental health issues.

  • Crisis Intervention: Respond effectively to crisis situations, demonstrating a calm and composed demeanour while ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.

  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of resident's needs and work collaboratively with them to develop individualised support plans.

  • Advocacy: Advocate for residents in accessing appropriate services and resources, both within and outside the hostel environment.

  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate and resolve conflicts among residents, fostering a safe and respectful living environment.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident interactions, progress, and any incidents, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a hostel environment, providing support to individuals facing homelessness, substance misuse, and mental health challenges.

  • Understanding of the complexities of homelessness and the ability to respond effectively to the diverse needs of residents.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a non-judgemental and compassionate approach.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as part of a flexible schedule.

  • Knowledge of local support services and resources for vulnerable populations.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • An empathetic and resilient nature with a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.
