Progression Coach

Details on the role:

Variety of shifts available including earlies, lates and night shifts

Pay: £13.50 holiday pay = £15.13 per hour

The service is a 2 year pilot scheme and this role is expected to go on until at least the end of March 2024

Service:

Supported accommodation service helping young people to move away from the emotional and physical trauma they have gone through and settle into their new home they have been relocated to.

Service users are aged 16-17 (2 of the rooms for people on remand) shorter term stays compared to the other two rooms in the house.

You will be working alongside a Multidisciplinary team - charities include: St Giles Trust (supporting with lived experience). Mac UK (supporting with MH and the deputy management), Juvenis (Supporting with probation and prevention) (Lambeth based charity)

Duties include:

  • Helping the client with money management
  • Life skills like cooking and cleaning
  • Education training and employment
  • Supporting with homework
  • Supporting clients to live independently
  • Put on extra curricular activities
  • Supporting with their general, emotional, and physical needs
  • Encourage physical activities and maintain engagement
  • Talk around healthy relationships, help them to gain healthier support networks
  • Safety planning with each client - mitigate risk with when they need to return to their previous borough
  • Provide them with local guides within the borough and get them settled and set up in their new environment with an awareness that there is going to be a long adjustment period due to their age
  • Get the clients to engage with the service and accept
  • Have an awareness of the challenges that come with this specific client group and resettling them in a new borough
  • Must be able to build rapport and trust quickly
  • Ability to be creative and innovative
  • The ability to relate to the young people
