Morgan Hunt are recruiting a Finance Manager for an well-known charity. This is a permanent role paying £36,000

The roll supports the Chief executive in delivering high quality and responsive financial service for the organisation and external

Main responsibilities of a Finance Manager:

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the finance function including banking, credit control, petty-cash, invoicing, receivables, payables, cash flow forecast, and production of management accounts - ensuring processes and controls are in place and adhered to.

  • Annual budgeting, own the month-end close process and the production of monthly rolling forecasting and quarterly management accounts outputs.

  • Manage the security of all financial information, including backing up, computer files and storage of business-critical data, on site and off site if required.

  • Be responsible for payroll, and ensure that pay is processed on time, accurately and in compliance with the HMRC and other relevant regulations and liaise accordingly with the pension and benefit providers.

  • Investigate and rectify payroll queries, errors, or discrepancies.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate issuing and processing of invoices to donors, sponsors, funders as required, and to clients for all paid-for services, and resolve related queries.

  • Responsible for processing and paying organisation's bills and suppliers in a timely manner.

  • Check and process timely authorised expense returns from staff and volunteers.

  • Prepare and process Gift Aid repayment claims.

  • Manage and support the external auditing process including to prepare for and maintain accurate records for the auditors, including records of restricted and non-restricted grants/donations income and expenditure to support accurate reserves reporting.

  • To submit the approved annual accounts to the Charity Commission and Companies House.

  • Ensure compliance with organisation's financial management policy and all other relevant policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Safeguarding, GDPR and to promote Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.

  • To support the CEO, senior management team and Board of Trustees by ensuring they have accurate and up-to-date financial information including reporting on KPI metrics that underpin Charity's financial performance.

  • Effectively manage and develop the organisation's finance team.

  • Ensure the continuous improvement process in payroll, purchasing, and bookkeeping.

As a Finance Manager, it would be ideal if you have:

  • Experienced charity accountant
  • Qualified professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience of managing budget, and income generation.
  • Technical ability to prepare, review and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reports.
  • Experience of calculating and preparing salary and PAYE data, managing payroll, HMRC returns and managing contributory pension scheme.
  • Experienced in the application and use of accounting software packages such as QuickBooks, SAGE
  • Working knowledge of charity accounting and Charity Commission compliance requirements
  • Experienced in preparing for and managing audits.
  • A working knowledge of data protection practice and processes.
  • Excellent IT skills including advanced Excel skills.
  • Analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong workload planning skills
  • Ability to confidently deal with colleagues and develop strong internal and external relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Able to work with minimum levels of direct supervision.
