Job Title: Chair of Trustees
Location: Flexible, UK wide. Board meetings are held in London and York.

We are seeking an exceptional leader to serve as our chair of trustees, guiding us with passion, vision, and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of governance. Your role will be pivotal in driving forward our mission to advance science and medical education through cutting-edge research, collaboration, and advocacy.

About us

Radiology & Oncology Congresses is a charity, the object of which is to advance education in radiology, oncology, and related sciences, particularly by the provision of congresses pertaining to the radiation sciences as applied to medicine and, the dissemination for the public benefit, of the useful results of reports of research arising from such congresses. The Charity was set up by three professional bodies (The College of Radiographers, the British Institute of Radiology, and the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine) who each nominate two director trustees.

Radiology and Oncology Events Limited is the operating subsidiary of Radiology and Oncology Congresses that oversees the organisation of the United Kingdom Imaging & Oncology Congress which is held annually - UKIO.

Essential criteria:

  • A background as a successful and respected leader in a professional field relevant to the charities work. This might include radiology, therapeutic and diagnostic radiography, imaging and oncology, physics, or education with specialisms in imaging and oncology.
  • Knowledge of charity governance and an effective appreciation of the financial, legal, and operational responsibilities of a Board of Trustees.
  • An excellent and persuasive communicator, with strong influencing skills.
  • Demonstrate the highest ethical standards and personal integrity.
  • Have a warm collaborative attitude and natural curiosity, acting as a role model to fellow trustees, staff, and volunteers.
  • A commitment to the organisation and an interest in, and sympathy for, medical sciences.
