Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with a well-established Non-departmental Public Body in their search for 2 interim Data Protection Advisors to provide support to the Data Protection Manager relation to compliance with Data Protection and Freedom of Information legal and policy obligations.

You will be responsible for supporting the Data Protection Manager (DPM) in relation to compliance with Data Protection and Freedom of Information legal and policy obligations. You will also be deputising for the DPM as required.

The successful candidate will be someone with strong detailed knowledge and understanding of the GDPR, FOI and DPA 2018. You must have the ability to able to reach a decision following an investigation of a breach of the Data Protection Act 2018.

You will have strong IT literacy and able to learn new systems quickly, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills as well as resilience and proven experience of working well under pressure.



Job Title: Data Protection Advisor x2

Location: Remote Based

Annual Salary: £39,000 (salary will be pro rata)

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (6 months)

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Start Date: ASAP



Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the DPM with responses to Freedom of Information and Data Protection Act requests in a timely and effective manner
  • Supporting the DPM in planning and implementing communications to ensure all staff are aware of their obligations in relation to Information Security and of changes to legislation
  • Provide advice in the first instance on Information Security queries from the teams and escalate to the DPM as appropriate
  • Proactively identify, record and escalate privacy risks and to support on Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Keeping up-to-date with Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation and ICO guidance and creating appropriate training materials and resources for the organisation.

Person Specification

  • Strong detailed knowledge and understanding of the GDPR, FOI and DPA 2018
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a variety of formats with all levels of colleagues and stakeholders and also creating and delivering training on Data Protection
  • Must have the ability to reach a decision following an investigation of a breach of the Data Protection Act 2018
  • Must be a self-starter, work independently, manage own workload effectively and use own initiative
  • Strong IT, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills as well as resilience and proven experience of working well under pressure.
