Head of Risk, Assurance and Compliance

Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with a Children's Charity organisation in their search for a temporary Head of Risk, Assurance & Compliance to provide specialist leadership and support to teams in streamlining and updating a set of core policies and procedures, aligned to organisation's core risks.

You will be responsible for providing organisational leadership and expertise on risk management, advising and supporting colleagues (in particular our executive leadership team and directors) across the organisation with effectively identifying, assessing, managing and reporting on risks.

In addition, you will also be required to support the Board of Trustees, Executive Leadership Team and Audit and Risk Committee have access to clear, concise tools and reporting information to inform decision making.

The successful candidate will be someone with strong written, communication and interpersonal skills as well as clear, inspiring and effective verbal and written communication style with an open and collaborative approach.

Job Title: Head of Risk, Assurance & Compliance

Location: Remote Working

Pay Rate: £36.38 per hour PAYE

Job Type: Temporary

Hours: Part-time (2-3 days per week)

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

• To develop and operationalise the risk management framework
• To oversee business continuity planning and incident response
• To manage the internal audit process with third-party auditors
• To evaluate compliance risks and drive improvement initiatives
• To streamline core policies and procedures aligned to key risks
• To ensure fundraising and marketing activities comply with regulations
• To respond to any serious incidents that may arise have been investigated and reported with other senior managers, to ensure implementation of any corrective actions that are required
• To verify that all regulatory PPG have been documented, implemented and communicated and take the lead to update these in partnership with leads in the relevant areas of the organisation as required.

Person Specification

• Must have a degree qualified or equivalent professional experience
• Must also hold an IRM International Certificate of Risk Management qualified (IRMCert) or equivalent professional risk management qualification
• Demonstrated experience of organisational risk management, compliance systems and assurance of control environment in an organisation
• Experience of influencing and relationship management up to and including at Board level
• Experience of coordinating and implementing internal audit activities and business continuity plans in an organisation
• Experience of operating effective compliance programmes and processes in an organisation
• Experience of drafting and tailoring policies, procedures and guidance and operationalising them in an organisation
• Experiences of applying critical thinking skills to identify risks, policy and control process.
