Building Services Manager

Job description

Morgan Hunt is delighted to collaborate with the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) as they embark on the search for a new Building Services Manager. Occupying a key site on Glasgow’s regenerated waterfront, the SEC is proud of their place in the community and delighted to play a part in the lives of local people and visitors. They work with local and national government to support local and national priorities whether it’s social inclusion, or health and wellbeing.

Role summary:

To function as an integral part of the Facilities Team, dedicated to advancing the Company's strategic business goals while consistently embodying our culture and values. Employing a combination of hands-on participation and effective leadership, collaborate with fellow Building Services Managers and the broader team to proactively enhance and oversee the efficient execution of preventive and reactive maintenance, as well as the plant replacement program throughout the SEC Campus. Prioritise customer service in every interaction, considering colleagues, partners, contractors, and all visitors as valued customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a proactive and efficient planned preventative maintenance strategy tailored to the SEC campus, prioritising minimal disruption to hosted events.
  • Establish and execute a responsive maintenance, repair, and replacement program with clear, ambitious, and measurable time-lines for resolution.
  • Lead and support the Facilities Team, freelance staff, contractors, and suppliers in various maintenance aspects, including electrical and mechanical.
  • Initiate and oversee regular inspections of campus plant and equipment, promptly identifying necessary services, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations and plan, schedule, and report related works while maintaining accurate tracking through the Compliance Register.
  • Contribute to global scheduling for upcoming event servicing, such as heating, lighting, and ventilation.
  • Conduct site inductions for contractors according to established policies and procedures, issuing permits for tasks like working at height, hot works, and restricted access.
  • Establish and maintain an accurate and comprehensive asset register, ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and currency of maintenance, service history, and life-cycle planning.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to current legislation, standards, and codes of practice; proactively identify risks and implement method statements, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
  • Collaborate with the Environment and Waste Team to enhance environmental performance in relevant areas.
  • Maintain effective communication between the Facilities Team and colleagues, clients, partners, contractors, and customers to ensure the efficient execution of all events and activities at the SEC.
