Job description

Morgan Hunt is collaborating with a dynamic public sector entity to enlist a Contractual 1st/2nd Line IT Support Officer based in Glasgow, promising an engaging opportunity.

About the Role:

  • As the 1st/2nd Line Support Officer, you'll spearhead the IT service desk operations, ensuring swift resolution of tickets within SLAs.
  • Overseeing 3rd line technical support issues, collaborating with IT support partners when necessary, and ensuring prompt responses within agreed SLAs, culminating in effective resolutions.
  • You'll play a pivotal role in documenting and disseminating knowledge and issue resolutions across the broader IT team to fortify the IT knowledge base.
  • Take charge of the end-to-end hardware lifecycle, encompassing the secure deployment of workstations, portable devices, peripherals, and telephony equipment.
  • Managing user software licenses, maintaining meticulous records and procedures, and driving service delivery to meet SLAs and deadlines, while identifying avenues for IT service enhancement, will be integral aspects of your role.
  • Contract management of 3rd party IT support services, ensuring compliance with agreed SLAs, and contributing to procurement and renewal activities.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a comparable IT service delivery capacity.
  • Proficiency in managing users in a Windows Remote Desktop Services (RDS)/Windows Virtual Desktop (VD) environment using VPN, SDP, or similar methods is essential.
  • Practical familiarity with Microsoft Cloud-based technologies (365), encompassing Office, Exchange Online, Azure, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • A robust understanding of core technologies, including Windows Server (2012 R2 to 2022), Windows 10/11, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Experience in supporting 3rd party installed applications, diagnosing and rectifying software faults for core operational systems and customer portals.
  • Knowledge of server or desktop virtualization technologies and supporting infrastructure (e.g., Azure, Hyper-V, or VMware) is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, adept time management abilities, and flexibility are crucial.
  • A valid driving license and access to personal transportation are highly preferred.

The details:

  • 3-month contract role Inside IR35
  • Daily rate of £150-200 DOE
  • Glasgow based
  • Initial requirement for office presence four days a week, transitioning to three days a week once you've familiarised yourself with the organisation and its systems.
