Job description

This role is employed by University of Derby but works in partnership with Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd. Due to the nature of work that Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd conducts and the protection of certain assets, some roles within the Nuclear Skills Academy (NSA) require post-holders to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance.  

This role does not currently require SC clearance, and this will not be a condition of appointment to this role. However, please be aware that there may be a future requirement for the successful candidate/s to undertake a SC check should any change in circumstances render this necessary due to development of the NSA over the coming years.  

About the role 

We are looking to recruit an Engineering Lecturer with an Electrical/Electronics background to join the apprenticeship team at Buxton & Leek College part of the University of Derby. We welcome applications from candidates with engineering industry experience looking to start a career in teaching.  You will be expected to teach the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard at the Nuclear Skills Academy based in Derby. 

The successful applicant will be required to prepare, deliver, demonstrate, review, track & monitor and assess various aspects of the apprenticeship to Rolls Royce apprentices.

The successful candidate will need to hold a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one. We can offer support to those looking to start their careers in teaching who have an Engineering degree or professional qualification in Mechatronics or equivalent qualification.

You should have demonstrable experience of the Engineering industry. If you have an assessor and/or verifier award this would also be considered. 

On appointment the job title for this position will be FE Lecturer in Mechatronics Engineering.
