Job description

GCSE English Teacher

We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic GCSE English teacher to join our team of dedicated professionals. You will be responsible for teaching GCSE English to students, preparing them for the national examinations and helping them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons that cover the GCSE English curriculum and meet the needs of different learners
  • Assess and monitor students' progress and provide feedback and support
  • Prepare students for the GCSE English exams and ensure they are familiar with the exam format and expectations
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to motivate and challenge students
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to share best practices and contribute to the school's improvement
  • Communicate with parents and carers to keep them informed of their child's progress and achievements
  • Participate in professional development and training activities to update your skills and knowledge
  • Follow the school's policies and procedures, including safeguarding, behaviour management and health and safety

Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent in English or a related subject
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, QTLS) or a willingness to obtain one within a specified time frame
  • Experience of teaching GCSE English or a similar level
  • Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of the GCSE English specifications and assessment criteria
  • Ability to plan and deliver differentiated and inclusive lessons that meet the needs of all learners
  • Ability to use a range of assessment methods and provide constructive feedback
  • Ability to use ICT effectively to enhance teaching and learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for English and a commitment to raising standards
  • A positive and flexible attitude and a willingness to learn and improve
