Interim Finance Director

Morgan Hunt is working with a Further Education College in West Midlands who are looking at recruiting an Interim Finance director.

The perfect candidate will lead on the operational financial management with the broad aim of securing the College's financial viability and delivering the Strategic Vision and Mission. The role will be actively involved in, and able to bring influence on all significant business decisions to ensure that implications, opportunities and risks are fully considered.

This 2 month contract hybrid role is paying a competitive rate.

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Finance Director:

  • Collaboration with the Chief Financial officer, Deputy Principal and Vice Principals to ensure that the financial aspects of the curriculum are planned and controlled effectively and efficiently
  • Preparing annual financial statements and other finance records to meet the requirements of the relevant regulators
  • Advising on significant business decisions to ensure that implications, opportunities and risks are fully understood
  • In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, managing the budget- setting process, drafting the annual budget and overseeing its implementation
  • Producing monthly financial reports to agreed formats and timescales
  • Updating Financial Regulations and Procedures and ensuring appropriate compliance as well as curriculum costing
  • Leadership, management, review and professional development of all direct reports

Previous Skills and Experience of the Interim Finance Director:

  • Relevant professional financial qualification as a qualified Accountant
  • Proven successful experience as a finance manager ideally in an Further Education College or other educational institution
  • Management of Financial Information Systems
  • VAT requirements, particularly Partial Exemption including the compilation of quarterly VAT returns and annual adjustments
  • Creating and maintaining partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully managing multiple teams including payroll within a college or other similar complex organisation
  • Liaison with Internal and External Auditors (or working as an auditor)
