Job Title: Senior / Team Leader Refuge Worker

Hours : 37 hours per week

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum

Type: Permanent

Industry: Domestic Abuse

This role requires an individual who wants to make a difference. The duties of the Senior Support Worker/Team Leader include:

  • Ensuring high standards of keyworking for service users including risk assessments, support planning, safety planning, and group work.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming environment in refuges and ensure facilities meet HMO standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Support a small caseload of up to three women directly in addition to overseeing Support Workers' casework.
  • Monitor implementation of license agreements and service charges.
  • Hold case management meetings with Support Workers and allocate referrals.
  • Deputise for the Manager when needed including timely completion of reports.
  • Ensure service user participation through meetings and community engagement.
  • Respond to complaints and issues as per policies and procedures.
  • Manage allocation of refuge spaces and maximise rent/benefits administration..
  • Recruit, induct and train staff on policies and domestic abuse issues.
  • Oversee direct casework and advocacy empowering service users to access their rights/options.
  • Work occasional evenings/weekends to cover emergencies on a rota basis.

Key Requirements

  • Experience advocating for minority women facing abuse/barriers.
  • Understanding of forced marriage, honour-based abuse and NRPF.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Administrative skills and ability to maintain records.
  • Fluency in English and South Asian languages.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings.
