Housing First Worker

Salford and Trafford

4 week minimum contract with the potential foe extension

Our client

Morgan Hunt are working with a large Housing Association who are looking to recruit a Housing First Worker on a temporary basis. This role is working 36.25 hours, Monday to Friday for a minimum of 4 weeks. The role will cover Trafford and Salford.

Housing First is a housing and support approach which gives people who have experienced homelessness and chronic health and social care needs a stable home from which to rebuild their lives. The programme aims to provide intensive, person-centred, holistic support that is open-ended. It places no conditions on individuals; however, they should desire to have a tenancy.

The role

As a Housing First Worker you will;

  • Be responsible for managing a caseload of client groups, planning your own diary, and keeping accurate records.
  • Supporting individuals to engage with services such as GP's, substance misuse services, dentists, and mental health services.
  • Promoting independent living skills through support and guidance.
  • Supporting individuals to engage in meaningful activities that promote mental health and wellbeing.
  • Health and safety management
  • Identifying any safeguarding concerns
  • Creating person centred support plans and completing risk assessments
  • Promoting tenancy sustainment
  • Signposting and referring to organisations in the community or additional support.
  • Supporting individuals access any relevant benefit entitlement.

The candidate

The successful candidate will;

  • Have experience in supporting vulnerable clients within a supported housing / floating support worker role.
  • Have a passion for supporting people to achieve positive outcomes through "showing" and not "doing".
  • Use a strength-based approach to identify and celebrate small achievements.
  • Have experience of managing their own caseload and documenting case notes on the computer
  • Be aware of safeguarding concerns and how to escalate these.

Due to the nature of the role a current Enhanced DBS is required dated within the last 12 months or on the update service.
