Assistant Bursar / Management Accountant
My client is a successful and over-subscribed prep school who is looking for an experienced financial or management accountant to cover a period of maternity leave. Ideally the position would commence in July 2025 to ensure a suitable handover period. This is a critical position within the School and as such, I am seeking someone to work 8am-5pm, 5 days per week, full-time, on-site at their beautiful school premises, just outside Abingdon. The working pattern is potentially negotiable depending on individual circumstances. The role will sit within a Finance team of three, including the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) and the Bursary Administrator.
The successful canddiate should be able to demonstrate most of the following characteristics:
2+ years' experience in a mid-level financial or management accounting role |
Working towards an accounting qualification |
Experienced in the independent schools sector |
Previous user of WCBS PASS for financial processing (alternatively, an experienced user of another financial system) |
Competent at learning a wide range of financial processes quickly, and using initiative to overcome gaps in knowledge

Competent user of MS Excel and Word |
Experience of supporting management in a fast paced environment |
An excellent command of English to ensure professional communications with a range of internal and external people |
Highly literate, self-motivated and pro-active |
An exceptional level of accuracy; a keen eye for detail. |
