Job Summary
Morgan Hunt is proud to be working with a leading Further Education college to recruit an experienced Additional Learning Support Coordinator. This is a pivotal role within the Learner Services department, providing strategic coordination of learning support provision to ensure high-quality, individualised support for learners with a range of needs, including those with EHCPs.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the deployment of Learning Support Practitioners across curriculum areas based on learner needs and institutional priorities
- Carry out initial assessments to determine learners' starting points and plan effective support strategies
- Lead the development and maintenance of personalised Support Plans, ensuring they are reviewed a minimum of three times per academic year
- Track and monitor the progress of learners with EHCPs, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions
- Support the ALS Manager in completing EHCP Annual Reviews within national timeframes
- Act as Key Practitioner for a minimum of six students, delivering direct support and monitoring progress
- Promote the use of assistive technology as a regular part of student learning and access arrangements
- Maintain accurate records and documentation on systems such as ProMonitor
- Facilitate communication between teaching staff, personal tutors, well-being coaches, safeguarding teams, and external professionals
- Contribute to the professional development of Learning Support Practitioners, including through observations and mentoring
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role within education or additional learning support
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP frameworks
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate a support team
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and digital tools used in education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Competence in tracking and monitoring learner progress using digital platforms (e.g. ProMonitor)
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults
- A collaborative and proactive approach to supporting inclusive education
