This was a pivotal and critical leadership appointment reporting into Ian Reid, Chief Executive and one that would work closely with the Board of Directors including the Chairman, John Crabtree OBE who was also a qualified legal professional. This would be the largest multi-sport event to be held in England in 10 years. Approximately 6,500 athletes and team officials from 71 nations and territories across the Commonwealth will come together in a 12-day celebration of sport and culture.
The Birmingham XXII Commonwealth Games Organising Committee had the task of building a highly credible leadership team quickly and efficiently which would act as the foundation to create the management and operational team that would implement and deliver the operational strategy for the competition.
The Chief Legal Officer appointment was critical as the postholder would be a trusted advisor providing advice to a range of stakeholders in the business on all legal matters for the organisation and staging of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in a fast-paced environment.
