Are you a Housing Needs Officer looking for work in Slough?

Morgan Hunt's Public Sector and Government client based in Slough is looking to recruit a Housing Needs Officer to provide support throughout a busy period.

This assignment has been deemed inside of IR35.

As a Housing Needs Officer, you will play a pivotal role in assessing housing needs, making Part 7 decisions, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation to meet the housing needs of our community.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Conduct comprehensive housing needs assessments for individuals and families in accordance with Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996. Evaluate eligibility for housing assistance and determine priority need status based on legislative criteria.
  • Make informed Part 7 decisions regarding housing applications, homelessness assessments, and allocations of social housing properties. Ensure decisions are fair, transparent, and compliant with relevant legislation and local housing policies.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Housing Revenue Account (HRA) legislation, regulations, and guidance. Ensure compliance with HRA requirements in housing allocation decisions, rent setting, and financial management processes.
  • Manage a caseload of housing applications, homelessness cases, and housing needs assessments. Provide support, advice, and advocacy to clients throughout the housing process, ensuring their rights and entitlements are upheld.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, local authorities, housing providers, and partner agencies to coordinate housing services and support. Participate in multi-agency meetings, case conferences, and partnership initiatives to address complex housing needs and systemic barriers.
  • Maintain accurate records of housing assessments, decisions, and outcomes. Prepare reports and statistical analysis on housing needs, allocations, and performance indicators to inform service delivery and decision-making processes.
