
Learning Support Assistant
Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (SEN & Personal Care)
Location: North London
Job Type: Full-Time
Hourly Rate: £13-£14/hr
A college in North London are currently seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dynamic team. This role involves supporting students with a variety of learning needs and physical disabilities, including wheelchair users. A key aspect of the role includes providing personal care, so candidates must be willing and experienced in delivering this support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored classroom support to students with SEN, under the direction of teaching staff.
Assist with personal care duties such as toileting, dressing, feeding, and hygiene needs.
Promote independence and inclusion both in and outside the classroom.
Support students with mobility needs, including pushing wheelchairs and using specialist equipment.
Monitor and record students' progress and behaviour in line with college procedures.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals.
Ensure a safe and positive learning environment is maintained at all times.
Requirements
Proven experience working with young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
Experience providing personal care and a clear understanding of dignity and respect in doing so.
Experience working in a college, school, or other educational setting is essential.
Comfortable and confident working with wheelchair users and using mobility aids.
A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
A relevant qualification in learning support or care.
An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is required.
