Deputy Manager - Young People's Semi-Independent Housing Support (Finsbury Park)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and experienced Deputy Manager to join a semi-independent housing service supporting young people in the Finsbury Park area. This is a full-time, temporary position for approximately 2 to 3 months, offering the chance to step into a key leadership role within a dynamic and supportive team.
The role focuses on day-to-day service management, staff supervision, and ensuring the delivery of consistent, high-quality support to vulnerable young people.
Key Details:
- Schedule: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5PM)
- Pay: £16.99 per hour plus £2.05 holiday pay (total: £19.04 per hour)
- Location: Finsbury Park, North London
- Contract Type: Temporary (approx. 2 to 3 months)
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of 3-4 staff, providing leadership and direction to ensure excellent support delivery
- Ensure each young person has a tailored support package, including comprehensive support and safety planning
- Lead on responses to missing episodes and non-engagement, working closely with statutory partners
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Children's Services and Leaving Care teams
- Oversee referrals and assessments, ensuring placements are made in line with service criteria
- Develop and implement life skills training programmes to support young people's independence
- Monitor service quality through direct observation and regular review of support delivery and housing management tasks
- Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and address property standards promptly
- Manage voids effectively, ensuring quick turnaround and accurate reporting
- Promote and uphold safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working in supported accommodation with young people, especially care leavers or looked after children with complex needs (e.g. mental health, offending, antisocial behaviour)
- Proven staff supervision and service management experience, with the ability to lead, motivate, and monitor performance
- Sound understanding of mental health, trauma, safeguarding, and risk management
- Ability to manage referrals, assessments, and placement decisions confidently
- Excellent multi-agency working skills and partnership-building experience
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- High level of IT literacy, report writing ability, and comfort with monitoring tools and data systems
- A resilient, proactive approach with a clear commitment to improving outcomes for young people
