Job Opportunity Summary: Young People Support Worker (Temporary Cover)
Location: Residential setting
Pay: £14.50/hour + £1.79 holiday pay = £16.25/hour
Contract: Temporary (2-3 months)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Rota basis (Early: 8:00-3:30 | Mid: 10:00-5:30 | Late: 3:00-10:30)
Note: Lone working involved
About the Role
You'll support vulnerable young people (holding a caseload of up to 4), providing trauma-informed, person-centred support in a supported accommodation setting. You'll promote independence, manage safeguarding, assist with benefits/rent, and facilitate move-on planning.
Key Duties
- Conduct key work and support planning (SMART goals, safety plans, risk assessments)
- Handle new referrals and support move-on strategies
- Address safeguarding concerns and manage risk appropriately
- Assist with budgeting, rent, welfare benefits, and daily living skills
- Promote education, employment, and personal development opportunities
- Maintain accurate case notes and ensure accommodation remains safe and welcoming
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Working with young people in supported/residential settings
- Knowledge: Trauma-informed support, safeguarding, welfare benefits, Ofsted standards
- Skills: Key working, report writing, communication, risk management, numeracy
- Approach: Compassionate, proactive, organised, and resilient
- Additional: Able to work with complex mental health/attachment needs, including self-harm/emerging personality disorders
