Job Title: Internal Assessor (Electrical)

Pay rate: £45 - £48 Per Hour

Job Purpose:

To assess, monitor, and support learners undertaking electrical qualifications and apprenticeships, ensuring they meet occupational standards and awarding body requirements. The assessor will provide feedback, maintain accurate records, and uphold quality assurance processes to help learners achieve competence in electrical installation, maintenance, and related fields.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of learners' electrical skills, knowledge, and behaviors in the workplace and/or training environment.
  • Plan, prepare, and carry out assessments in line with awarding body standards and organizational policies.
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners to support progression and achievement.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and secure records of learner assessments and progress.
  • Work collaboratively with trainers, employers, and internal quality assurers to ensure consistency and reliability of assessment decisions.
  • Participate in standardization meetings and internal verification activities.
  • Support learners in developing their portfolios of evidence (practical tasks, on-site assessments, written work).
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during practical assessments.
  • Keep up to date with changes in electrical industry standards, assessment practices, and awarding body requirements.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusivity in assessment practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognized Assessor qualification (e.g., TAQA, A1, D32/33, or equivalent).
  • Level 3 or above qualification in Electrical Installation or a related discipline.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of electrical regulations (e.g., 18th Edition Wiring Regulations).
  • Relevant industrial experience within the electrical trade.
  • Experience of assessing electrical apprenticeships or NVQs (desirable).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
