About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Copilot Studio AI Engineer to join a leading UK Government agency on a 6-month engagement. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying AI-powered copilots and intelligent automation solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio (Power Platform, Azure OpenAI, and related technologies).

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI copilots using Microsoft Copilot Studio, integrating with internal systems and data sources.
- Develop, test, and refine natural language experiences leveraging Azure OpenAI, GPT models, and Power Virtual Agents.
- Collaborate with product owners, data engineers, and policy stakeholders to identify automation opportunities.
- Ensure all solutions comply with UK Government security, accessibility, and ethical AI standards.
- Integrate Copilot solutions with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse) and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Define and maintain documentation, testing frameworks, and monitoring processes.
- Support knowledge transfer and capability building within the internal technical team.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience developing solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio or Power Virtual Agents.
- Strong background in Microsoft Power Platform, Azure OpenAI Service, and Azure Cognitive Services.
- Proficient in prompt engineering, conversational design, and API integration.
- Understanding of data governance, information security, and ethical AI frameworks within the public sector.
- Experience deploying and scaling AI or automation solutions in Microsoft 365 or Azure environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and version control (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps).
Desirable Skills
- Experience working within UK Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
- Knowledge of Responsible AI frameworks and model evaluation techniques.
- Background in chatbot analytics, user experience, or service design.
- Active Security Clearance (SC) or higher.
