Cheshire West and Chester

Temporary with the potential for extension - 2 - 3 months initially

Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm - 37.5 hours per week

£12.38 per hour + holiday pay



Morgan Hunt is working with a youth homelessness prevention charity who are looking to recruit a Young Persons Support Worker for their service across Cheshire West and Chester on a temporary basis initially for 2 - 3 months. The Floating Support Service assists young people aged 16 - 20 as they prepare for and transition into independent living within their own tenancies. Working hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm, 37.5 hours per week.

As a Young Persons Support Worker, you will be responsible for.

  • Managing a caseload of 6-12 young people, conducting weekly key working sessions and developing holistic, strengths-based support plans and tailored programmes.
  • Supporting young people in preparing for independent living and building essential life skills.
  • Providing ongoing support for those who have moved into accommodation, offering regular visits that may include advice, practical guidance, or structured life-skills training.
  • Collaborating closely with social workers, the Leaving Care Team, local organisations, statutory services, and partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
  • Assisting young people with applying for benefits, completing applications, learning budgeting and money management skills, and prioritising and paying bills and rent.
  • Encouraging and supporting engagement in education, employment, and training opportunities.
  • Helping young people access and communicate with health services, including mental health, substance misuse support, and counselling.
  • Using a trauma-informed approach, with an understanding of adverse childhood experiences and principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
  • Developing tailored support packages, offering signposting and referrals to specialist services where needed.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with housing providers to expand accommodation options for young people and collaborate closely with social care partners.




The candidate

  • Experience of working with young people who may have complex needs such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic abuse, and offending behaviour.
  • Experience of helping young people with setting up benefits, developing independent living skills and maintaining their accommodation.
  • Ability and commitment to work as part of a multi-agency team to ensure young people in care and who are leaving care, achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • A clear understanding and ability to implement risk management, information sharing and data security arrangements.
  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and professional boundaries when working with young people.
  • Ability to promote and implement diversity practice and policies and treat colleagues and clients fairly and with respect.
  • Ability to use IT to a level which will enable high quality reporting to be carried out.
  • Have access to own transport.
