Whitley Bay (Northeast)

Temporary with the potential for extension

Monday - Friday between 9am and 7pm - 37.5 hours per week

£17.63 per hour plus holiday pay



Morgan Hunt are working with a youth homelessness charity who are looking to recruit a Service Manager for their service that supports young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and who may present with complex needs, helping them move towards independent living.


This is a 37.5-hour per week role, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 7pm. Temporary cover is required for a minimum of 2 months, with the potential for extension.


As a Service Manager, you will be responsible for

  • Managing a supported accommodation service housing for 14 young people and providing line management to 5 staff members.
  • Ensuring high-quality, continually improving project performance in line with the supported accommodation contract.
  • Maintaining appropriate staffing levels to deliver the service effectively.
  • Overseeing and monitoring staff activities, ensuring performance expectations are met.
  • Working closely with the Area Director to manage the team and ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Providing accessible support to clients seeking help or advice, either by phone or through drop-in availability.
  • Monitoring all support provided to young people and offering guidance where needed.
  • Representing the organisation at partnership and strategic meetings, building strong links with local authority teams to ensure a steady flow of appropriate referrals.
  • Collaborating with commissioners, statutory partners, and voluntary organisations to support service development.
  • Maintaining accurate and relevant records, statistics, and ensuring clear communication with Project Workers and Project Evaluators.
  • Taking responsibility for the building's health and safety, along with housing management duties.
  • Participating in the on-call rota.



The candidate

  • Experience working with young people including those at risk of homelessness.
  • Experience of working with people who are categorised as high needs or have complex needs such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic violence and offending behaviour.
  • Experience of effectively managing staff.
  • Knowledge of supported accommodation and other services vital to successful support while people are homeless or need pre-tenancy support.
  • Experience supporting service users to set up benefits and maintain their accommodation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice and benefits system.
  • Experience of health and safety and housing management responsibilities.
  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and professional boundaries.
  • Experience of contributing to high level strategic discussions with an ability to deliver the outcomes required to promote the service.
  • Able to work on own initiative providing leadership to the team but at same time able to exercise sound judgement in knowing when to consult with line management.
  • Understanding and ability to implement risk management, information sharing and data security arrangements.
  • Ability to use IT to a level which will enable high quality reporting to be carried out. This should include an ability to use data capture systems including running queries and reports.
