Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Job Type: Temporary

Location: Hornchurch

Length of Contract: Temporary - Ongoing

Key Responsibilities

• Provide physical and communication support using methods appropriate to the individual needs of the student
• Support communication to enable full access to the curriculum and extracurricular activities (e.g. lessons, assemblies, parents' evenings, reviews, and visits)
• Work with individuals and small groups of students with additional needs under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
• Assist with planning and organising learning activities
• Support students' cognitive development by removing barriers to learning
• Ensure students' physical welfare and assist with physical needs as agreed, including moving and handling and intimate care where required
• Under the guidance of the SENCO, contribute to setting and reviewing individual targets, attend review meetings, and contribute to written reports
• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records in line with Academy systems, and provide feedback to teachers

Skills & Experience

• Experience in learning support or support work with young people with learning disabilities (e.g. autism, ADHD)
• Experience working in an educational environment providing academic or personal care support
• Experience with or willingness to provide personal care support for individuals with high needs (e.g. PEG feeding, toileting, changing)
• Available to interview immediately
• Right to Work in the UK and an Enhanced Adult & Child DBS dated within the last 3 months or registered on the update service
