Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Foundation Learning Lecturer to join a supportive Further Education college in North London on a long-term temporary basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate educator to support learners on foundation programmes, helping them develop essential life, employability, and independent living skills while progressing towards further study, training, or employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and inclusive teaching across Foundation Learning programmes

• Support learners with varying educational needs, including those requiring additional learning support

• Plan and deliver lessons focused on functional skills, personal development, employability, and independent living

• Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment

• Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support development

• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement

• Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants and pastoral teams

• Prepare learners for progression into vocational courses, apprenticeships, or employment

• Embed employability, communication, and life skills within the curriculum

• Contribute to curriculum planning, quality assurance, and team meetings

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Education, Youth Work, SEND, or a related field

• Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one

• Experience teaching or supporting learners within Foundation Learning, SEND, or entry-level education

• Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated learning

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

• Ability to motivate and support learners with diverse needs and backgrounds
