Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Foundation Learning Lecturer to join a supportive Further Education college in North London on a long-term temporary basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate educator to support learners on foundation programmes, helping them develop essential life, employability, and independent living skills while progressing towards further study, training, or employment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and inclusive teaching across Foundation Learning programmes
Support learners with varying educational needs, including those requiring additional learning support
Plan and deliver lessons focused on functional skills, personal development, employability, and independent living
Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support development
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement
Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants and pastoral teams
Prepare learners for progression into vocational courses, apprenticeships, or employment
Embed employability, communication, and life skills within the curriculum
Contribute to curriculum planning, quality assurance, and team meetings
Requirements
Relevant qualification in Education, Youth Work, SEND, or a related field
Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one
Experience teaching or supporting learners within Foundation Learning, SEND, or entry-level education
Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated learning
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Ability to motivate and support learners with diverse needs and backgrounds
