Safeguarding & Wellbeing Officer

• Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns and disclosures.
• Identify and assess risks to student safety, including abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
• Follow and implement safeguarding policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Liaise with external agencies (e.g., social services, law enforcement, health services) when necessary.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records of safeguarding cases.

• Provide emotional support and guidance to students facing personal, social, or mental health challenges.
• Develop and deliver wellbeing programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
• Promote a positive and inclusive college environment that supports diversity and equality.
• Support students in crisis and coordinate appropriate interventions.

• Ensure the college complies with all safeguarding legislation and guidelines.
• Regularly review and update safeguarding and wellbeing policies.
• Contribute to audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.

• Deliver safeguarding and wellbeing training to staff and students.
• Raise awareness of safeguarding issues such as bullying, harassment, online safety, and mental health.
• Support staff in understanding their safeguarding responsibilities.

• Work closely with academic staff, counselors, and administrative teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case reviews.
• Build relationships with community organizations and support services.

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field.
• Experience in safeguarding, child protection, or student welfare.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding laws and best practices.
• Experience working with young people in an educational or care setting.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
• Crisis management and problem-solving skills.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.

• Professional certification in safeguarding or counseling.
• Experience in a college or higher education environment.
• Mental health first aid training.
