About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Safeguarding Officer to lead and strengthen our safeguarding practices. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, or vulnerable adults, while supporting staff and promoting a strong safeguarding culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on safeguarding cases, ensuring timely and appropriate action is taken
- Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or deputy DSL where required
- Provide expert advice and guidance to staff on safeguarding and child protection matters
- Manage referrals to external agencies, including social services and local authorities
- Develop, implement, and review safeguarding policies and procedures
- Deliver safeguarding training and awareness sessions to staff
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date safeguarding records
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
- Monitor compliance with safeguarding legislation and best practice
Requirements
- Significant experience in a safeguarding or child protection role
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures
- Experience managing complex safeguarding cases
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
- A relevant qualification in safeguarding, social work, education, or a related field
Desirable
- Experience in education, healthcare, or social care settings
- Training qualification or experience delivering staff training
- Leadership or supervisory experience
