We are working with a well-established and inclusive Further Education college seeking a passionate and dedicated Specialist Inclusion Practitioner to join their Learning Support team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who is committed to supporting young people with additional learning needs to achieve their full potential in an educational environment.
The Role
As a Specialist Inclusion Practitioner, you will provide focused support to learners with EHCPs and identified additional needs through 1:1, small group, and classroom-based interventions. You will play a key role in promoting learner engagement, achievement, wellbeing, and independence across a range of vocational and academic programmes.
You will also manage a designated caseload of learners, coordinate support plans, contribute to EHCP annual reviews, and work collaboratively with curriculum teams, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored learning and pastoral support to learners with SEND and EHCPs
- Support learners on a 1:1 and small group basis both in and outside the classroom
- Develop and monitor learner support plans and interventions
- Coordinate and contribute to EHCP annual review meetings
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement reasonable adjustments and inclusive learning strategies
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals/agencies
- Promote learner independence, confidence, and self-advocacy
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and learner progress documentation
- Support the implementation of assistive technology where appropriate
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion at all times
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in supporting young people with SEND, learning difficulties, or disabilities
- Confident working with learners with Autism, ADHD, Asperger's, SEMH, sensory impairments, or similar additional needs
- Skilled at building positive and professional relationships with students, staff, and families
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied caseload
- Passionate about inclusive education and learner success
- Knowledgeable in safeguarding and student wellbeing
Essential Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 qualification
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or equivalent)
- Experience supporting young people with additional needs in an educational or support setting
- Strong communication and record-keeping skills
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- Level 2 Learning Support qualification or equivalent
- SEND-related training or qualifications
- Experience within Further Education or post-16 settings
- Knowledge of EHCP processes and annual reviews
- Experience using assistive technology to support learners
