Plumbing Curriculum Manager

About the Role:

A well-established Further Education college in Surrey is seeking a Curriculum Manager to lead its Plumbing provision, with alignment to Gas and Green Skills. The role will oversee teaching, learning, and assessment quality, drive curriculum innovation linked to government policy, and support staff to deliver strong student outcomes. You will act strategically to shape programs that meet industry demand and employer needs while collaborating effectively across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Plumbing curriculum, including Gas and emerging Green Skills, ensuring compliance with FE regulatory frameworks and government policy.
  • Set and monitor standards for teaching, learning, and assessment, driving continuous improvement and strong achievement rates.
  • Line manage and develop lecturers, assessors, and technicians, including workload planning, performance reviews, and professional development.
  • Design and sequence programs and qualifications aligned to awarding body requirements and local skills priorities.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes, including internal verification, learner voice, observations, and action planning.
  • Support pastoral provision and learner safeguarding, working with support services to remove barriers to learning.

*Qualifications Needed

  • Level 3 or higher qualification in Plumbing and Heating or Building Services.
  • Level 5+ teaching qualification preferred for curriculum leadership responsibilities.
  • Internal Quality Assurance qualification is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based pedagogy, curriculum planning, and FE quality processes.

Experience Requirements:

  • Proven experience teaching or managing Plumbing programs within Further Education or accredited training environments.
  • Track record of improving teaching quality, assessment practice, and learner outcomes.
  • Background in managing teams, observing teaching practice, and leading staff development.
  • Experience with employer engagement and apprenticeship or work-based learning pathways.
