Modern Methods of Construction Lecturer

Location: Grays, Essex
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
Contract: Full Time, Permanent

The Role

As an MMC Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and industry-relevant teaching across a range of programmes within Construction and the Built Environment. You will introduce learners to the latest developments in off-site manufacturing, sustainable construction, and digital technologies that are transforming the industry.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing student's technical knowledge, practical understanding, and employability skills, preparing them for careers in one of the fastest-growing areas of construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Modern Methods of Construction and related subjects.
  • Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide timely feedback and support.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and employers to ensure curriculum relevance and industry alignment.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

MMC provision increasingly focuses on digital construction, off-site manufacturing, sustainability and BIM integration, reflecting current industry requirements and employer needs.

Requirements

  • Relevant Level 3 qualification or above in Construction, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Strong industry experience within construction, ideally with exposure to modern methods of construction, modular building, off-site manufacturing or digital construction practices.
  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A genuine passion for developing future construction professionals.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering within Further Education or apprenticeships.
  • Understanding of sustainability initiatives and low-carbon construction methods.
  • Assessor and/or IQA qualifications
