Senior Policy Associate interim opportunity in a high-profile government regulator within the major projects team, for a 6-month plus assignment. As interim Senior Policy Associate, you'll support a core strategic programme of policy development and delivery. This is key role in delivering the regulator's policy approaches across commercial, financial, regulatory and other policy related to a major infrastructure investment. The ideal candidate will have a strong policy background, from government/ or the wider public sector, have good stakeholder engagement skills, will be proactive & respond flexibly to the needs of the organisation by supporting the development of policy to support the delivery of these major infrastructure projects across the UK. This is a hybrid role, which could be based in London or the midlands - indepth policy experience is key, ideally you may also have had exposure to PFI, PPP or large infrastructure projects in the past.

Other key duties include:

· Support the development, delivery and continuous improvement of this large projects' programme of policy frameworks including review and further development of existing guidance, taking account of stakeholder feedback and working collaboratively across professions & the regulator more broadly.

· Consider wider commercial policy issues, such as interactions between existing commercial policy & price review policy and draw on diverse sources to develop policy options.

· Work in collaboration with external advisors, including building trust across the team, key stakeholders & external organisations. This will include taking ownership over key stakeholder forums, so that you have a respected & valued profile within these organisations.

· Work across the team to engage in and support with the delivery of these key projects strategy & approach, including working with colleagues to support our ways of working, ensuring that our policy development reflects delivery realities.

· Promote learning & knowledge sharing within the team and across relevant sectors.

· Ensure visibility of risks to policy delivery through routine reporting and being proactive and dynamic in how these are addressed within the regulator, communicate to external organisations/ wider stakeholders.


Key experience & skills required:

· Policy strategy, development and delivery experience: Knowledge of large-scale strategic policy programmes, as well as experience of policy development, delivery and implementation. Experience of policy in a regulatory framework capacity and of legislative processes is also desirable.

· Critical thinking, evidence and analytical skills: Ability to analyse information, identify issues, synthesise diverse views, sources and intelligence and develop options and recommendations on a wide range of issues and to work collaboratively with other professions such as legal and economic in doing so.

· Communication skills including written, verbal and presentation: Ability to communicate effectively to a range of internal and external audiences, in writing, verbally through meetings and through presentations, and an ability to convey complex issues clearly and concisely.

· Stakeholder engagement: a track record of building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, aligning a wide range of conflicting views.

· Experience working independently and as part of a team to deliver under pressure, effectively planning, prioritising and managing a varied and changing workload to meet deadlines.
