Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (Agency Placement)
Pay Rate: £13.00 - £15.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Further Education College in Manchester for an enthusiastic and motivated SEN Sports Coach to join their team from September 2026.
This is a rewarding full-time, long-term opportunity for individuals who are passionate about using sport, fitness, and physical activity to support young people and adults with additional learning needs to build confidence, improve wellbeing, and achieve their personal goals.
The Role
As an SEN Sports Coach, you will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to deliver engaging, inclusive physical activities and sports sessions. You will play a key role in encouraging participation, promoting wellbeing, and helping learners develop both physically and socially in a supportive environment.
You will support learners with a range of additional needs, including:
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Physical disabilities and sensory impairments
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering and supporting inclusive sports and physical activity sessions
- Providing 1:1 and small group support during practical lessons and activities
- Adapting coaching styles and activities to meet individual learner needs
- Encouraging teamwork, confidence, motivation, and independence
- Promoting positive behaviour through engaging and structured activities
- Supporting learners' health, wellbeing, and personal development
- Working collaboratively with tutors, LSAs, and pastoral staff
- Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with young people or adults with additional needs (education, sport, coaching, or care settings)
- A positive, energetic, and encouraging approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to motivate and engage learners of varying abilities
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
- Relevant sports coaching qualifications (e.g. Level 2 Coaching Certificate or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications (desirable but not essential)
