Are you an experienced Hairdresser or Hairdressing Lecturer with a passion for education? We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Hairdressing Lecturer to join our dynamic Further Education team. This is an exciting opportunity to help learners develop the practical skills, creativity, and confidence needed for successful careers within the hair and beauty industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Hairdressing lessons across Level 1-3 programmes.
  • Teach practical and theoretical aspects of hairdressing in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Assess learner progress through practical observations, assignments, and assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to help learners achieve their full potential.
  • Maintain a safe, professional, and well-equipped salon learning environment.
  • Track learner attendance, progress, and achievement using college systems.
  • Support learners with tutorials, pastoral care, and employability skills.
  • Build relationships with local salons and employers to support work placements and industry engagement.
  • Participate in curriculum development, quality assurance, and departmental meetings.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all teaching activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification (or above) in Hairdressing.
  • Recent industry experience within a commercial salon.
  • Strong practical skills across cutting, colouring, styling, and client care.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learner support.
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Desirable Requirements

  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent).
  • Assessing qualification (TAQA, A1, CAVA, or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching Hairdressing within a Further Education setting.
  • Knowledge of current industry trends, techniques, and awarding body standards.
  • Experience supporting apprenticeships or work-based learning.
