We are working in partnership with a well-established Further Education college in The Wirral to recruit a number of SEN Learning Support Assistants for September starts. These are temporary to permanent opportunities, offering the chance to secure a long-term career within an inclusive and supportive college environment.
The college supports students aged 16+ across a range of vocational and academic programmes. You will work closely with learners who have a variety of additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Support learners with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, physical disabilities, and speech, language and communication needs.
- Assist students both in and outside of the classroom to ensure they can fully engage with their studies.
- Encourage student independence, confidence, and social development.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to implement individual support plans.
- Support students with personal care where required.
- Maintain accurate records and provide feedback on student progress and engagement.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience supporting young people or adults with SEND in an education, care, or support setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care, SEND qualifications) are desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
