BSL Inclusion Support Specialist - Cambridge Area

Helping Deaf Learners Thrive, Achieve & Succeed

Are you passionate about supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing learners? Do you have the skills to help people build confidence, overcome barriers, and achieve their goals?

We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated BSL Inclusion Support Specialist to join a welcoming and inclusive Further Education college in the Cambridge area this September.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive team where you will play a vital role in creating an accessible and inclusive learning environment. You'll help learners develop independence, confidence, and the skills they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

The Opportunity

As a BSL Inclusion Support Specialist, you'll provide essential communication support for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind learners, helping them fully access education and achieve their academic, personal, and career aspirations.

Working closely with lecturers, support teams, and wider college staff, you'll use your British Sign Language skills and communication expertise to remove barriers to learning and empower learners to reach their full potential.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing learners to access lessons, workshops, and college activities
  • Using British Sign Language (BSL) and other communication methods to support learning and understanding
  • Helping learners develop confidence, independence, and self-esteem
  • Supporting learners with study skills, organisation, literacy development, and note-taking
  • Encouraging learners to achieve their EHCP targets and personal goals
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Providing communication support during educational visits, work experience placements, and examinations where required

What We're Looking For

  • BSL Level 1, 2, or 3 qualification
  • Confidence communicating using British Sign Language
  • A patient, positive, and learner-focused approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting learners and helping them succeed
  • Experience within education, SEND, support work, or communication support is desirable

Why Apply?

  • Temporary opportunity with a September start
  • Supportive and inclusive college environment
  • Make a genuine difference to deaf and hard-of-hearing learners every day
  • Use your BSL skills to open opportunities and remove barriers to learning
  • A rewarding role where you can see the positive impact you make

If you're looking for a role where your communication skills can empower learners, build confidence, and help create a more inclusive future, we'd love to hear from you.
