Deputy Director of IT

Are you an experienced IT leader who enjoys shaping strategy while improving operational excellence? We're partnering with a large, multi-site organisation undergoing significant digital investment and transformation, seeking an ambitious Deputy Director of IT to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology services.

This is far more than a traditional infrastructure or service delivery role. You'll lead the IT Support and Infrastructure functions, drive service improvement, strengthen cyber resilience, and help deliver a modern digital environment that supports thousands of users across a complex organisation. Working closely with the Director, you'll contribute to senior leadership discussions, influence strategic decision-making, and have genuine ownership of technology operations.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the Director of Technology Innovation & Development, you'll take responsibility for end-to-end IT service delivery, ensuring technology services are reliable, secure and user-focused. You'll lead experienced technical teams while championing best practice across service management, infrastructure, cyber security and operational resilience.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Leading IT operations and service delivery across multiple sites
  • Driving cyber security, disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives
  • Improving service performance through effective SLA and KPI management
  • Overseeing infrastructure, cloud services and application support environments
  • Managing supplier relationships and technology partners
  • Supporting wider digital transformation programmes and strategic projects
  • Deputising for the Director and contributing at senior leadership level

They are looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking technology leader with a strong track record of managing IT services within a complex environment. You'll combine technical credibility with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for continuous improvement.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience leading IT operations, infrastructure and support teams
  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies including Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Experience improving service delivery and driving operational excellence
  • Exposure to cyber security frameworks and compliance standards
  • The ability to lead teams through change and transformation
  • Excellent communication, leadership and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach to technology services
