The Role

As a Teacher of English, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons to a diverse range of learners, supporting them to develop their literacy skills and achieve their qualifications.

Working collaboratively with curriculum and support teams, you will play a key role in promoting student progress, engagement, and achievement while contributing to the ongoing development of the English curriculum.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching English at GCSE and Functional Skills Level 2.
  • Planning and delivering engaging, inclusive, and motivational learning experiences.
  • Supporting learners to achieve their individual goals and qualifications.
  • Monitoring student progress and implementing effective interventions where required.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and high expectations within the classroom.
  • Providing guidance, support, and encouragement to learners.
  • Contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure timely and effective student progress.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about education and committed to helping learners fulfil their potential.

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English Language at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards and achieve a Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Certificate in Education) or equivalent.
  • Ability to teach Functional Skills English Level 2.
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Full driving licence and access to your own transport.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience teaching GCSE and/or Functional Skills English.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong planning, delivery, and assessment skills.
  • Ability to develop high-quality, inclusive learning experiences.
  • Proven commitment to improving student achievement and satisfaction.
  • Strong organisational and classroom management skills.
