About the Role / Job Summary:
As a Rugby League Coach at a Further Education College in Greater Manchester, you will play a crucial role in developing and mentoring student-athletes. This position involves planning and delivering high-quality training sessions, monitoring student performance, and contributing to their academic and personal growth. You will be part of a dynamic team within a further education environment, promoting sportsmanship and teamwork and working with the academy
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality rugby league training sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday or Friday afternoons (flexible schedule), providing approximately three hours of coaching per session.
- Monitor and support student performance, behaviour and development both on the field and within the classroom.
- Contribute to wider curriculum objectives, ensuring student-athletes meet expected academic and personal development standards.
- Organise and oversee all match day activities on Wednesday afternoons, including team preparation, player management and fixture coordination.
- Manage and arrange fixtures within elite college rugby league competitions.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation, including registers and associated administrative tasks.
- Adhere to all safeguarding, health and safety, and student welfare policies, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Maintain regular and effective communication with the Curriculum Manager regarding student progress, attendance, performance and programme standards.
- Promote high expectations, professionalism and a positive sporting culture across the rugby league programme.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working within the professional rugby league game.
- Relevant Rugby League coaching qualifications.
- Strong understanding of player development and performance pathways.
- Knowledge of safeguarding requirements and best practice within an educational setting.
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and positively influence young people
Education Requirements:
· Relevant coaching qualifications (e.g., Rugby league Level 2 or higher).
· DBS on the update service is required.
Experience Requirements:
· Previous experience coaching in an educational or youth sports environment in Rugby League.
· Experience in player management and fixture coordination.
