Morgan Hunt is working with a welcoming and inclusive Further Education college in East London that is looking for a compassionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide learning and personal care support.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to learners with SEND, complex needs and physical disabilities.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide classroom and personal care support to help learners participate fully in college life.

You will work closely with lecturers, Learning Support teams and other professionals to ensure every student receives respectful, person-centred support based on their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and classroom support to learners with SEND.
  • Assist students with personal care, including toileting, feeding and changing where required.
  • Support learners with mobility and safe movement around the college.
  • Help students access lessons, activities and learning materials.
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive social interaction.
  • Support learners with their individual targets and EHCP outcomes.
  • Follow personal care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain each learner's privacy, dignity and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with lecturers and the wider Learning Support team.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting learners with SEND, complex needs or physical disabilities.
  • Comfortable and confident providing personal care.
  • Experience with manual handling, hoisting or feeding would be beneficial.
  • A caring, patient and learner-focused approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience within education, care or a similar setting.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Morgan Hunt.
