Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Repairs Operations Manager on an interim contract basis to support a progressive local authority in South East London.
In this influential leadership capacity, you will oversee a large-scale responsive maintenance operation managing approximately 25,000 residential properties. Your main objective will be to spearhead a customer-focused, high-efficiency repairs framework that guarantees tenant safety, structural compliance, and top-tier service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Direct a substantial, multi-disciplinary workforce comprising up to 125 internal and external personnel handling borough-wide responsive maintenance.
- Operational Execution: Guarantee the prompt, cost-efficient, and structurally sound completion of all repair jobs through strict oversight and workflow controls.
- Change Management: Champion ongoing performance enhancements, fostering an environment around workplace safety, transparency, and operational excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal directorates and senior stakeholders to align maintenance goals with broader environmental and housing targets.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain rigorous adherence to current housing laws, building regulations, and health and safety legislation.
- Financial Stewardship: Exercise control over substantial departmental budgets to secure optimal value and stretch resources effectively.
Candidate Profile
- Background: Extensive senior leadership experience directing repairs and maintenance portfolios specifically within the social housing landscape.
- Track Record: Demonstrated history of managing large operational teams, executing complex service transformations, and overseeing heavy budgets.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to balance big-picture planning with day-to-day tactical management to boost resident satisfaction metrics.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with modern housing legislation, safety standards, and compliance frameworks.
- Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication competencies tailored to public sector environments.
