
Local Housing Manager
Job Title: Local Housing Manager
Location: South London
About the Role / Job Summary:
We are seeking experienced Local Housing Managers to deliver excellent housing and estate services across defined geographical patches. This customer-facing role involves managing a diverse range of customers, including those in rented, shared ownership, and leasehold tenures. The successful candidate will coordinate internal teams, contractors, Local Authority partners, and external agencies to ensure high-quality, responsive services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate housing and estate services across the designated geographical patch.
- Act as the key customer-facing representative, developing strong relationships with residents and local stakeholders.
- Manage complex tenancy and lease-related matters, including succession, mutual exchanges, and assignments.
- Lead on ASB cases, tenancy enforcement, fraud, and subletting investigations.
- Work with income teams to address rent arrears, including resident visits and pre-court action.
- Ensure tenants and leaseholders comply with tenancy and lease conditions, taking enforcement action where necessary.
- Manage estate inspections, communal repairs, parking issues, and environmental standards.
- Monitor cleaning, grounds maintenance, and other service contracts, working with contractors to improve performance.
- Conduct health and safety checks and ensure remedial actions are completed.
- Lead resident associations, forums, and local engagement activities.
- Manage complaints and work towards effective first-stage resolutions.
- Respond to enquiries from MPs, Councillors, and other key stakeholders.
- Support lettings activity, including property viewings and tenancy sign-ups.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to support vulnerable residents.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience within social housing and housing management.
- Experience managing leasehold and shared ownership tenures.
- Strong knowledge of housing, tenancy, and ASB legislation.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Good planning, organising, and prioritisation skills.
- Strong report-writing and IT skills.
- A full driving licence and ability to undertake travel across the designated patch.
Education Requirements:
- Knowledge of housing management best practices.
- Understanding of project management principles.
Experience Requirements:
- Proven record of delivering excellent customer-focused services.
- Experience working collaboratively with Local Authorities and external agencies.
- A record of achievement in making a difference in the community.
