Salary: £18-20 per hour

Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness?
We're looking for a committed and resilient Homeless Outreach Worker, helping to reduce rough sleeping and street activity across the city.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role where you'll be out in the community, building trust with people sleeping rough and working alongside partner agencies to deliver positive outcomes. As a Homeless Outreach Worker you'll:

• Take part in early morning and occasional late-night outreach shifts, including bi-monthly street counts.

• Identify and support individuals who are rough sleeping, including those reluctant to engage with services.

• Provide assessments, case management, and practical help such as access to emergency accommodation, benefits advice, tenancy support, and health services.

• Work closely with drug, alcohol, and mental health services to connect people to the right support.

• Support people with complex needs, helping them to sustain accommodation and avoid returning to the streets.

• Participate in multi-agency meetings and work in partnership with housing providers, the local authority, police, and voluntary organisations.

• Keep accurate records and share relevant information to ensure joined-up support.

• Safeguard vulnerable adults and children, escalating concerns appropriately.

• Contribute to service development, performance monitoring, and the wider strategy to reduce homelessness in Cambridge.

About You

Looking for an passionate Homeless Outreach Worker with:

• Experience supporting people with multiple or complex needs, ideally including homelessness, substance misuse, mental health, or the criminal justice system.

• Strong knowledge of homelessness issues, supported housing, or related fields.

• The ability to remain calm, empathetic, and non-judgemental in challenging situations.

• Confidence in working both independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage people who are reluctant to access services.

• Flexibility to work unsocial hours, including early mornings and occasional late nights.

• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and diversity.
