Job Title: Young Persons Support Worker

Location: Birmingham, Small Heath

Contract: Full-time Permanent - 5 days over 7 shifts rota

Salary: £16.50-17 per hour

We're looking for a motivated and compassionate Young Persons Support Worker to join our team in Birmingham Small Heath providing person-centred support to young people living in supported accommodation.

The Role

As a Young Persons Support Worker, you will:

  • Support young people to feel safe, understand safeguarding, and develop the confidence to make positive choices.
  • Deliver one-to-one and group sessions, co-designed with young people, to help them build life skills and resilience.
  • Encourage independence by supporting young people to manage daily living, finances, and their transition into permanent housing.
  • Build trusting relationships through a trauma-informed approach and personalised support planning.
  • Act as the first point of contact for your caseload, coordinating with colleagues, external agencies, and housing providers.
  • Record and maintain accurate documentation in line with GDPR, safeguarding, and organisational policies.
  • Respond to emergencies, safeguarding concerns, and incidents in a professional and supportive way.

About You

Looking for a Young Persons Support Worker who is:

  • Experienced in supporting young people or vulnerable groups (youth work, supported housing, or social care experience desirable).
  • Confident in handling safeguarding concerns and responding to challenging situations.
  • Flexible, creative, and able to adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
  • Comfortable working independently, including lone working and out-of-hours shifts.
  • Organised, with good record-keeping and communication skills.
  • Passionate about helping young people achieve independence and thrive.
