
Housing Coordinator

I'm working with a Local Authority seeking a Housing Coordinator to join the Housing Advisory Service. This role is central to supporting vulnerable residents, providing housing options, and delivering homelessness prevention services in line with housing legislation.
About the Role
As a Housing Coordinator in the public sector and government department, you will:
- Provide expert housing advice and support to those facing homelessness or housing difficulties.
- Use a range of prevention tools, such as rent deposit schemes and hardship payments, to help sustain tenancies or secure suitable accommodation.
- Process housing and homelessness applications in line with statutory duties, policies, and guidance.
- Work directly with tenants, landlords, and partner agencies to resolve complex housing issues, including tenancy sustainment, legal disputes, and welfare support.
- Liaise with internal teams and external organisations to ensure tailored solutions for individuals and families, including those with special needs.
- Represent the service in court where required and respond to legal challenges, councillor and MP enquiries, and complaints.
About You
I'm looking for someone with:
- Proven experience in homelessness prevention and managing housing casework.
- Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and related legislation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex housing law in a clear and empathetic manner.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure, manage a varied caseload, and deliver results within deadlines.
- Strong partnership working skills with internal teams and external agencies.
- Working in public sector and government teams
- IT literacy and confidence using case management systems.
