Morgan Hunt are pleased to be working in association with an education charity in East Sussex to recruit a new Head of Curriculum & Quality, with a specialism in Additional Learning Support.

Working closely with the Principal, you will be the driving force leading on curriculum development and the successful post holder will have an exciting opportunity to embed function skills in to the existing curriculum.

You must have full understanding of ESFA funding methodology in relation to Inclusive Learning including High Needs Funded Students and understanding of how to provide and plan of support for learners with Learning Difficulty or Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

Main responsibilities of the Head of Curriculum & Quality:

  • Assist the Principal with in the development of strategic curriculum planning including the design and rollout of a new Functional Skills programme
  • To lead on the development and delivery of new activity in line with strategic priorities
  • To ensure that Quality Assurance procedures and systems including course reviews, EHCP reviews, action plans, internal and external verification procedures and validation procedures are effectively implemented within the area of responsibility.
  • To line manage the existing curriculum team.
  • Monitor the ALS budget (including high needs funding)
  • Develop effective communication channels for all relevant stakeholders, including local authorities, exam bodies, parents/carers, employers, and curriculum departments, both within and outside the College.
  • Act as Ofsted Nominee, getting the team ready for their first full inspection.
  • Review and enhance systems for ALS referral and assessment to ensure early identification of students' learning needs and the implementation of appropriate interventions.
  • Monitor the allocation of support services to ensure effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience required for the Head of Curriculum & Quality:

  • A Teaching qualification is such as B Ed, PGCE, Cert. Ed.
  • Experience and proven success in providing learning support to students with learning difficulties.
  • Experience and flexibility in providing a range of support needs, including 1:1, in class and group support, and ability to differentiate to these different support modes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Level 2 English & Mathematics qualification.
  • Experience of delivering and assessing Foundation Learning programmes at levels from Entry - Level 2 or Supported Internships
  • Evidence of successful curriculum development and implementation, with an emphasis upon an inclusive curriculum with active participation in the college community.
