Morgan Hunt are currently working with a Professional Regulatory Body in their search for a permanent Head of Forensic Investigations to join the leadership team of a high-profile organisation and play a key role in leading the delivery of complex, high-risk forensic investigations that uphold professional standards and protect the public.



In this senior leadership role, you will lead teams of forensic investigation professionals and oversee the delivery of high-quality forensic accounting and investigative work. Working across complex, sensitive, and high-profile cases, you will ensure investigations are delivered to the highest standards of quality and timeliness, with clear outcomes that support regulatory and enforcement objectives.



You will set the strategic direction for forensic casework, providing leadership on complex decision-making and case direction, as well as ensuring consistency, quality and operational excellence. The role also involves developing and maintaining influential relationships with key external stakeholders (including law enforcement agencies, regulators, financial institutions and other government bodies) and representing the organisation externally on specialist forensic matters.



The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with significant experience overseeing forensic accounting and investigative work at a senior level. You will bring strong technical expertise, including embedded knowledge of accounts rules and related legislation (such as the Solicitors Act and Legal Services Act), as well as a sound understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape. A credible and confident leader, you will have experience making operational and strategic decisions on complex investigations, delivering clear messages to senior stakeholders, and driving performance and quality improvements across specialist teams.





Job Title: Head of Forensic Investigations

Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 per annum (plus 10% London weighting if applicable)

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday)

Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week in office (Birmingham, London or Cardiff) with requirement to attend Birmingham office once per week (expensed)





Key Responsibilities

· Lead teams delivering complex, high-profile forensic investigations in line with regulatory objectives.

· Oversee forensic accounting work, ensuring quality, timeliness and adherence to relevant legislation.

· Provide strategic leadership on case direction and decision-making across complex and sensitive investigations.

· Ensure consistent application of accounts rules and related regulatory frameworks.

· Drive continuous improvement and high standards across operational teams.

· Develop and maintain influential relationships with senior external stakeholders, including law enforcement, financial institutions and other regulators.

· Represent the organisation externally at events and presentations, promoting professional standards.

· Identify emerging risks and themes, escalating appropriately to inform regulatory responses.

· Contribute to strategic leadership across the wider investigations directorate.



Candidate Profile

· Qualified accountant with significant experience overseeing forensic accounting and investigations.

· Embedded knowledge of accounts rules and thorough understanding of related legislation (Solicitors Act, Legal Services Act, relevant case law).

· Strong operational and strategic decision-making skills in complex investigative contexts.

· Experience delivering high-quality forensic investigations and driving performance standards.

· Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders, including law enforcement and other regulatory bodies.

· Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.

· Demonstrated leadership experience managing specialist operational teams and managers.

· Understanding of the legal profession and wider regulatory environment.
